A new chapter in the confrontation between MACBA and the Raval since the museum was born. It has had opportunities to try to get closer to the neighborhood and its people, to understand its debt, but it has not been like that, on the contrary. Always arrogance and abuse, confusing priority needs with theirs as an institution.
Nor has understood that the communities that make up the neighborhood, diverse and unrepresentable, have in common to suffer contempt, inequality and abuse of power. We are used to it, they are part of our history and we know how to confront them. It is still not understood how after so many years of reforms, repression, order, budgets, subsidies and humiliations, the rebellion that appears when institutions and powers believe that they can impose their plans and that we will accept them easily continues.
Taking away another thousand square meters of unbuilt space from the Raval, spending 17 million of public money contributed by different administrations when priorities are different and passing it off as a common good is belittling us. To take a photo with some sectors of the Raval, presenting them as the entire neighborhood, to understand that the complaints of some neighbors are the complaints of everyone to close the Flea Market, tighten civic regulations, evict families and expel them from the neighborhood. Having the nerve of appropriating the long and difficult fight for the Raval CAP Nord, when it was achieved thanks to the unity and effort of the different Raval communities that fought and won so that there was a new CAP and five years later works have not yet begun.
We know what it means for us to reach an agreement, to satisfy the needs of communities that are so different and so stretched, but we know how to listen, we know how to have patience and the courage to understand each other. Power can’t never help itself from crossing the line and that brings us together, forces us to talk to each other and fight together.
Our lives, our health is at stake here, we fight for subsistence conditions, for dignity against contempt and stigma. We have memory and wisdom to defend life, that of the Raval, that of our communities and that of the planet. If Power and administrations don’t know how to do it, we will do it.
We defend what is ours. We defend what belongs to everyone.

Detengamos el expolio de 1000m² de espacio público. Hacemos un llamamiento a todo el mundo que está en contra de esta ampliación, a movilizarse.
Que nos escuchen!
Un nuevo capítulo de la confrontación entre el MACBA y el Raval desde que nació el museo. Oportunidades ha tenido para intentar acercarse al barrio y su gente, para entender su deuda, pero no ha sido así, al contrario. Siempre la arrogancia y el abuso, confundiendo las necesidades prioritarias con las propias como institución.
Tampoco ha entendido que las comunidades que formamos el barrio, diversas e irrepresentables, tenemos en común sufrir el desprecio, la desigualdad y el abuso de poder. Estamos acostumbradas, forman parte de nuestra historia y sabemos confrontarlos. Aún no se entiende como después de tantos años de reformas, represión, orden, presupuestos, subvenciones y humillaciones, sigue la rebeldía que asoma cuando las instituciones y los poderes creen que pueden imponer sus planes y que los aceptaremos con facilidad.
Arrebatar al Raval otros mil metros cuadrados de espacio no construido, gastarse 17 millones de dinero público aportados por diferentes administraciones cuando las prioridades son otras y hacerlo pasar como un bien común es menospreciarnos. Hacerse la foto con unos sectores del Raval, presentándolos como todo el barrio, entender que las quejas de varios vecinos son las quejas de todos para cerrar el Flea Market, endurecer la normativa cívica, desahuciar a familias y expulsarlas del barrio. Tener la barra de apropiarse la larga y difícil lucha por el CAP Raval Nord, cuando fue conseguida gracias a la unión y el esfuerzo de las diferentes comunidades del Raval que lucharon y vencieron para que hubiera un nuevo CAP y cinco años después todavía no comienzan las obras.
Sabemos lo que nos supone ponernos de acuerdo, de satisfacer las necesidades de comunidades tan distintas y tanto al límite, pero sabemos escuchar, sabemos tener paciencia y coraje para entendernos. Al poder siempre le pierde pasarse de la raya y consigue ponermos en común y nos obliga a hablarnos y a luchar juntas.
Nos va la vida, nuestra salud, luchamos por las condiciones de subsistencia, por la dignidad contra el desprecio y el estigma. Tenemos memoria y sabiduría para defender la vida, la del Raval, la de nuestras comunidades y la del planeta. Si los poderes y las administraciones no saben hacerlo, lo haremos nosotros.
Defendemos lo que es nuestro. Defendemos lo que es de todas.
